380. "Engkau menjadikan manusia menurut gambaran-Mu, Engkau menyerahkan kepadanya tugas menguasai alam raya; agar dengan demikian dapat mengabdi kepada-Mu, satu-satunya Pencipta" (MR, Doa Syukur Agung IV 118).

381. Manusia sudah ditentukan untuk mencerminkan dengan setia citra Putera Allah yang menjadi manusia - "gambar Allah yang tidak kelihatan" (Kol 1:15) - supaya Kristus menjadi yang sulung di antara banyak saudara.3

382. Manusia adalah "satu jiwa maupun raganya" (GS 14, 1). Ajaran iman mengatakan bahwa jiwa yang rohani dan tidak dapat mati langsung diciptakan oleh Allah.

383. “Allah tidak menciptakan manusia seorang diri: sebab sejak awal mula 'Ia menciptakan mereka pria dan wanita'” (Kej 1:27). Rukun hidup mereka merupakan bentuk pertama persekutuan antar pribadi - pribadi (GS 12, 4).

384. Wahyu memperlihatkan kepada kita keadaan kekudusan dan keadilan asli pria dan wanita sebelum berdosa. Dari persahabatannya dengan Allah muncullah kebahagiaan hidup mereka dalam firdaus.

The doctrine of the faith affirms that the spiritual and immortal soul is created immediately by God. 383     "God did not create man a solitary being. From the beginning, "male and female he created them" (Gen 1:27). This partnership of man and woman constitutes the first form of communion between persons" (GS 12 § 4). 384     Revelation makes known to us the state of original holiness and justice of man and woman before sin: from their friendship with God flowed the happiness of their existence in paradise.
