479. Pada waktu yang telah ditentukan Allah, Putera Allah yang tunggal, Sabda abadi, dan citra hakikat Bapa, telah menjadi manusia: Ia telah menerima kodrat manusiawi, tanpa kehilangan kodrat ilahi.

480. Yesus Kristus sungguh Allah dan sungguh manusia dalam kesatuan Pribadi ilahi-Nya; karena itu Ia adalah perantara satu-satunya antara Allah dan manusia.

481. Yesus Kristus memiliki dua kodrat, yang ilahi dan yang manusiawi; keduanya tidak dicampur-adukkan satu dengan yang lain, tetapi disatukan dalam Pribadi Putra Allah yang satu.

482. Karena Kristus sungguh Allah dan sungguh manusia, Ia memiliki akal budi manusiawi dan kehendak manusiawi. Keduanya serasi dengan dan patuh terhadap akal budi ilahi-Nya dan kehendak ilahi-Nya, yang Ia miliki bersama Bapa dan Roh Kudus.

483. Inkarnasi [penjelmaan menjadi manusia] dengan demikian adalah misteri persatuan yang mengagumkan dari kodrat ilahi dan kodrat manusiawi dalam Pribadi Sabda.
